Halewood Romania Halewood Romania

John Halewood, entrepreneurial owner of Halewood International, has had a long history of dealing with Romanian wine and has played a major part in making Romanian wine accessible on a global level.

In 1987 Halewood International began importing wines from Romania into the UK. The group enjoyed great success and thus created Halewood Romania in 1997, with a head office in Bucharest that now employs more than 200 people.

In the last ten years Halewood Romania has invested more than 8 million Euros in new machinery, land acquisition and a replanting programme. Halewood Romania’s seven cellars are named – Tohani Cellars, Vadu Sapat Cellar, Valea Calugareasca Cellars, Ciumbrud Cellars, Ploiesti, Rhein Azuga Cellars and Urlateanu Mansion House – each with a distinctive character. The company operates from vineyards in Dealu Mare, Transylvania and Murfatlar.

Prahova Valley Special Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

This full bodied, rich, aromatic, old world style Sauvignon Blanc is packed with fresh green flavours. Lots of freshly cut grass, limes and gooseberries, flinty minerals and a smoky finish. The oak adds depth rather than overpowering the natural characteristics and adds balance to the acidity.
