Stirbey obtained gold for its Merlot Reserva 2007 and Feteasca Neagra 2008 at the Vinul.ro Excellence Awards 2011 in Bucharest, as well as achieving Silver for its Merlot Reserva 2007 at the Mondial du Merlot 2011 in Lugano.
Merlot Reserva 2007 is made of a selection of the best grapes from the Stirbey vineyard and is aged for 2 years in new Romanian barriques. After obtaining 90 points in a Romania panel tasting of German wine magazine Weinwirtschaft in March 2010 and Silver in the 2010 edition of the Vinul.ro contest, this year´s Gold award in Bucharest and Silver at the Mondial du Merlot confirm the high potential of this limited edition of Prince Stirbey Merlot.
Feteasca Neagra 2008 was the second edition of this grape variety at Prince Stirbey winery, and already at its release in 2010 it was praised by Romanian wine journalists as the best Feteasca Neagra on the market.
